The new ROG Zephyrus S GX531 sets a new standard for slim gaming laptops with an even thinner design framed by super-narrow bezels.
Nobody truly wants to lug around a 4-kilogram powerhouse on their shoulders whilst people can hold the weightless device upon their shoulders easily. Asus, a Taiwan based multinational electronics company, has brought with the ROG Zephyrus S which is a fairly slim 15-inch machine that weighs just 2.1kgs.
This is a premium gaming notebook and the design screams of it. The build quality is excellent thanks to the metal outer shell with a dark grey minimalistic finish with a brightly lit ROG logo. The hinge mechanism seems very sturdy and the display opens up in a nice swift motion. That is where things seem to ‘different.’ The keyboard has been pulled down to the edges while the touchpad is moved to the right. This is because Asus has left space on top so that air can be pulled in from the top to improve cooling. A unique signature designs of the Zephyrus series which works for the most part and necessary to maintain the claim of being the ‘slimmest gaming notebook.’
The latest ROG Zephyrus S features a 15.6 inch Full HD (1920×1080) super-narrow bezel display to draw gamers deeper into the action. The high refresh rate makes gameplay smoother and lowers input lag, while the 3ms gray-to-gray response time produces sharper visuals with no blurring. The CPU comes with 6 cores and 12 threads, and it is automatically overclocked to 2.2GHz-4.1GHz. The hexa-core handles gaming and other running tasks quickly and efficiently. Therefore, now Zephyrus S supports DDR4 2666MHz high frequency memory modules and the overall computer performance are noticeably improved.
According to Cinebench R15 tests for multi-core CPUs, the latest Zephyrus S can reach up to1214 cb, which is a remarkable improvement compared to its predecessor.
On the processing front, this one is no slouch. It comes with an Intel 8th-gen Core i7 8750H six-core processor with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Adding to the speed is an M.2 1TB NVMe PCIe drive, which might not be enough for your gaming library, but will definitely cut down on load-times by a big margin when compared to traditional hard drives.ROG Zephyrus S GX531 is the world’s first laptop featuring GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design. The Turing architecture of RTX 20 series melds programmable shading with real-time ray tracing and artificial intelligence to enable greater realism to gaming graphics.
