Sajeeb Wazed inaugurates startup accelerator and specialized labs

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adviser to the Prime Minister Sajeeb Wazed, inaugurated a startup accelerator and two specialized laboratories of Bangladesh Computer Council at ICT Tower in the city on July 26, 2018.

Aiming to create 1000 services and inventory products by 2021 and computer incident response team laboratory, Wazed inaugurated country’s first ever international quality software testing and certification center (SQTC) and the government’s first accelerator for startups.

The first accelerator program has been established under the project of Innovation Design Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) in the ICT Ministry.

“Earlier we had to take our software for tests outside the country. But today, we have this system and we can test our software from our ICT ministry. We don’t have to rely on foreign services from now on,” Wazed said at the inauguration.

He also said, “If we had this lab before, we could detect the Bangladesh Bank hacking. Now hacking can be traced anywhere in our country. ”

The main objective of establishing the SQTC centre is to verify and validate software systems in government offices, to create awareness of and elevate the software testing industry in the country, and to build the capacity of resources to support desired growth in the software testing arena.

The center will conduct training programs that will generate functional testers, test automation engineers, performance test engineers, security test engineers, mobile test engineers, test managers and project and program managers.

Moreover, the startup accelerator and the labs will work toward the efforts of the government to develop entrepreneurs and help create employment opportunities for the youth of Bangladesh.

Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Investment Adviser of Startup Bangladesh Tina Jabeen, ICT Division Secretary Juena Aziz, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Executive Director Partho Pratim Dev, senior officials of the ICT Division and IT experts were present at the function among other delegates.
