Two day long DCtsummit ends on a big note

Organized by the DCiCON Limited, the two day long Data Center Technologies Summit (DCtSUMMIT) was held from November 15-16 at Krishibid Institute Bangladesh (KIB Complex).

Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of DCiCON Limited Mr. Masud Parvej said, “The motto of this event is creating awareness to the people. We want to let the foreign investors and sponsors know more about Bangladeshi industry so that they can learn about us and feel interested to get connected with us. I think it’s a very good platform for the data center people who want to work well for the society.”

“In recent years data centers have also undergone a fundamental change and to maintain data centers with their optimal performance, the owner and managers have a keen understanding of what’s happening physically in these facilities. Hope this summit could be the perfect path for them”, said Parvej.

According to DCiCON, the event this year featured over 28 international technology innovators with more than 45 expert speakers and arranged dozes of interactive and hands on workshop where people discovered the latest thinking in edge computing, IoT, cyber security, advancement in data center solutions including automations, fire protections, cooling and many more.

DCtSUMMIT 2018 was dissected into four content seminar halls where many more sessions held and expert speakers shared their knowledge about data centers of the world. Besides, the sponsors and the partners of this summit showcased their products and services at the summit this year.

At the inauguration program, the IT experts spoke to the audience and disseminated their views on data center around the world and its importance for upcoming decades.

On the first day of the exhibition, a number of sessions were held at different zones where speakers spoke on building the future ready data center, data center solutions from their respective companies, data center survey and trends, cyber security, journey to software defined data center and many more. Even the exhibition got its vitality when a panel discussion was held on ‘ICT Advancement in Bangladesh’ from the perspective of ICT journalists.

The Executive Director of Monthly Computer Jagat Md Abdul Haque Anu, Senior reporter of The Daily Independent Tareq Murtuza, Assistant Editor of the Daily Sangbad Kawsar Uddin, Special Correspondent of Barta24 Ishtiaq Hussain delivered their speeches during a session moderated by Azfar Adib, a telecom professional and internet service analyst.

When asked about the challenge faces in ICT journalism, Kawsar said, “The challenges are many. First of all, we still don’t have a skilled manpower to disseminate the knowledge properly as covering ICT requires at least some sort of grasp on the technical knowledge which most journalists here in the country lack.”

He however said the situation has changed in the last couple of years. “Some of the journalists have come to this field with a background of technical knowledge and they are fast changing the style of reporting. The contents that are now being produced are of better quality than the ones produced before.”

Abdul Haque, Tareq Murtuza and Ishtiaq Hussain also took part at the discussion and spoke to the audience about the challenges ICT journalism.

On the same day, around twenty sessions were held where many IT specialists and business leaders talked about this sector of home and abroad.

The second day of this summit was more attractive. The speakers presented their keynotes and spoke on “Do not take bait-how to stop phising/Cryptojacking/Cryptominning “, “Penetration Seals for Evolving Data Cabling Systems-Passive Fire Protection”, Voltage Stabilization for better power quality, What is the Biggest Challenge in the Cyber Security at the moment and so forth.

In the papers of the speakers, they talked about the workshop agenda as follows about uptime institute, global technology & data center trends, business expectation vs reality break, global standards, best practices & guidelines, approach to reliable data center, importance of education, exposure & experience, importance of tiers in data center, relating operations to reliability & performance, hybrid resiliency etc.

At the very early moment of the second day, panel discussion on “Impact of IoT, ML & AI on Cloud & Data Center” brought the huge response especially among the students and IT professionals. Moreover, the visitors and the exhibitors including sponsors of the summit attended many workshops, sessions and DCtAWARD ceremony.

DCtSUMMIT brought together industry leading experts for a two day event crammed with more than 200 international suppliers, a carefully comprised conference program and a long list of industry leading speakers. A must attend event for anyone involved in the industry and a great opportunity to share knowledge and business and to network with peers. Some 15 International organizations with local ones participated in the fair this year.
